Am I eligible for the Australian Government Hearing Service Program (HSP)?

You are eligible to receive fully subsidised hearing services if you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident that is 21 years or older AND you meet one of the following criteria:

    • Hold a Pensioner Concession Card (eligibility for a PCC does not include people on newstart who are single or couples with no dependents or carer responsibilities)
    • Hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card
    • Hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs White Card (hearing specific conditions)
    • You are a dependent of a person in one of the above categories
    • A current member of the Australian Defence Force (i.e., Permanent Navy, the Regular Army, the Permanent Air Force or Reserves who is rendering continuous full-time service)
    • Referred by the Disability Employment Services (Disability Management Services) Program

What does the Australian Government HSP provide?

The Hearing Service Program provides many fully subsidised Audiology Services*

  • Fully Subsidised Hearing Aids

You will have access to a wide range of devices.

  • Fully Subsidised Comprehensive Hearing Test

You will have a sound understanding of your hearing loss (i.e., your type and degree of hearing loss). Adaptive Hearing will recommend you the most appropriate hearing solution for your personal circumstances.

  • Access to an Annual Device Maintenance Program

The maintenance program supplies you with the repair services and batteries needed to operate your hearing aid annually. Many hearing service providers charge an annual fee for this service. Adaptive Hearing will usually waive this this fee.

  • Fully Subsidised Annual Reviews

Each Annual review will allow any monitoring of any hearing changes and allow us to troubleshoot any problems you may encounter.

How do I apply for the HSP ?

Applying for a hearing service voucher can be tricky as you’ll need the assistance of a approved hearing service provider. Fortunately, we’ll do the hard work for you. If you think you meet the eligibility criteria, simply contact us on (02) 9729 2635 to arrange an appointment. At the appointment ensure you bring the appropriate card that you are applying with (e.g., pensioner concession card) and we’ll ensure you are eligible for the fully subsidised audiology services under the HSP.

What If I am not eligible for the HSP?

If you are not eligible for the Australian Government HSP, there are still options to help you reduce the cost to access these hearing services. Perhaps you have private health insurance which may provide extras cover for hearing services.
